Beijing, Nov 1 (IANS) A man in China’s Guangdong province was Thursday awarded death sentence for killing two babies, including a two-month-old, under the influence of drugs.
Huang Mingxing, 36, s villager of Zhongshan city, was convicted of hacking to death two baby girls — one of whom was a-year-old and another two-months-old — of two families in his village, reported Xinhua citing the intermediate people’s court in a verdict.
After taking crystal meth, a powerful stimulant, on the morning of March 5, he visited the homes of two families while carrying two knives and a scissor. He then killed the two children and slightly injured the third, the court found.
However, he later called up police and surrendered.
Huang claimed that the drugs caused hallucinations that the two families would kill him. So he decided to strike first.
The court, however, said Huang was clear-minded when he committed the killings and the severe consequences meant he should not get lenient punishment despite his surrender to police.
Huang was also ordered to pay six plaintiffs a total of 103,918 yuan (about $17,000) in civil compensation.
