New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS) Seven women from south India, lured to Delhi on the pretext of being given jobs in the capital, were rescued from a red light area here Wednesday, police said.
“The women, ranging in age from 20 to 25 years, belong to Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. They were lured to Delhi on the pretext of jobs, but forced into the flesh trade,” a police officer said.
The women were rescued from brothel number 58 on G.B. Road in north Delhi.
Police said the raid was conducted following a tip-off from a non-governmental organisation. The rescued women have been sent to a women’s welfare home while their families have been informed.
