Bangalore, Nov 6 (IANS) Silver Strings Sports (SSS), a city-based academy, Wednesday tied up with three overseas coaching firms to nurture budding talent in tennis across the country by providing quality training and coaching facilities.
“The objective is to deliver a comprehensive sport education programme with services of international trainers and specialists to school/college students and youth employed in various firms,” SSS managing director Mukesh Chetan told reporters here.
The academy has roped in Pro Sport Education of Britain, Registro Professional de Tenis of Spain, and Fraser Edwards of the US to engage their coaches and specialists for the training programmes with a structured curriculum.
“We are holding a three-day tennis camp at our academy from Thursday to expose kids, adults and coaches to high-level training with international standards,” Chetan said on the occasion.
Pro Sport Education (PSE) provides coaching and training to schools, sports academies and corporates across Europe and Registro Professional de Tennis (RPT) trains coaches with junior and senior training programmes in tennis, while Fraser Edwards is a global distributor of sports surfaces in tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball and other games.
World class tennis players such as Carlos Moya, Sanchez Vicario and Ferroro were trained by certified coaches from RPT.
PSE chief executive Adrian Rattenbury said scientific coaching, using sports science, sports psychology, sports medicine and a holistic approach to training was essential to get the best out of players.
“Synthetic playing surfaces with cushioning can minimise injuries and increase players competitive playing life. Builders, sports academies, schools, colleges and players have to be educated about the harm caused to the body by playing on improper surfaces,” Fraser chief executive Chip Moreland said.
