Shimla, Nov 8 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh Friday filed papers here for the state Indian Youth Congress (IYC) elections next week.
Official sources said he filed his nomination to make an entry into state politics in a big way.
The elections are scheduled for Nov 15 and 16.
The Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME), an independent agency commissioned by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to oversee the IYC polls, had declared his Nov 2011 election to the IYC null and void in January last year as there were complaints of violation of the code of conduct.
Political greenhorn Vikramaditya, 23, who had won this election by a huge margin was debarred by FAME from re-contesting the elections in 2012.
“Going into the complaints, a detailed inquiry was held and it was concluded that Vikramaditya Singh stands in violation of the code of conduct laid down for IYC elections,” FAME, based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, adjoining the national capital, had said.
Vikramaditya had polled 5,919 votes whereas his nearest rival Raghubir Bali, son of Transport Minister G.S. Bali, polled 2,434 votes.
