New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS) The government was investigating the alleged foreign funding to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as per a Delhi High Court order, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said Tuesday.
“We ordered the probe after the Delhi High Court took note of the issue and gave orders,” Shinde told reporters.
Shinde had said Monday the government was probing the alleged foreign funding to AAP.
In its Oct 23 order, the Delhi High Court had asked the central government to look afresh into the accounts of AAP to find out the sources of the money received by the party.
The court order had come after a public interest litigation.
According to Shinde, the central government was awaiting a reply from AAP after the foreigners division of the home ministry sent a set of questions to it under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act.
AAP accused the government of a witch hunt and said accounts of both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party should also be probed.
