Kolkata, Dec 2 (IANS) A leading neuroscience institute of the city has tied up with a British establishment to further advanced joint studies, thereby boosting collaborative research between India and Britain.

In December, 10 neuro-specialists from the Institute of Neurosciences (IoN), Newcastle upon Tyne, Britain, will partner with experts from the Institute of Neurosciences (I-NK) here for research.
Moreover the British team is also exploring the possibility of a common Ph.D. programme between the I-NK and the Newcastle University, said Colin Ingram, director, Institute of Neurosciences, Newcastle University.
A symposium will also be organised this month that will see experts from I-NK, IoN, Calcutta University, Jadavpur University, IIT-Kharagpur and Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics participating and exchanging knowledge.
This would be a precursor to the Indo-British student exchange programmes in the area of neurosciences, believes Robin Sengupta, chairman, I-NK.
