Aligarh, Dec 29 (IANS) The Aligarh Muslim University Teachers’ Association (AMUTA) has condemned the Uttar Pradesh government for forcibly evicting riot victims from Muzaffarnagar relief camps and slapping a false case of encroaching on government land against them.

AMUTA honorary secretary Aftab Alam Saturday said that instead of ensuring adequate rehabilitation to the victims living in extreme cold — which has resulted in the death of around 100 children — the state government is using force to evict the families.
The evacuation is taking place despite advisories by the National Human Rights Commission and the National Commission for Minorities against such a step.
The AMUTA also said it was shocked by Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav’s statement that there are no victims left in the relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli and those staying there are the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party workers, out to sully his government’s image.
Also, Principal Secretary (Home) Anil Gupta said that no child in the relief camps died of cold. “No one can die of cold. If people die of cold, then nobody will survive in Siberia.”
