Beijing, Dec 30 (IANS) A restaurant in Beijing is witnessing an overwhelming surge in custom after Chinese President Xi Jinping visited it for a meal Saturday, a media report said Monday.

Since the president’s visit to the Qingfeng Steamed Bun chain restaurant made news, it has seen a sudden rise in customers, South China Morning Post reported.
Now the waiters have to warn the customers that they would have to wait for around an hour before getting a table.
Undeterred, the people have been flocking to get a meal at the restaurant.
The customers, who managed to reach the counter battling their ways, said: “Just give me the Xi Combo!.”
The president had ordered steamed buns stuffed with pork and onion, a green vegetable dish and a stew with pork liver and intestines.
The restaurant has removed the table which the president used out of fear that customers would fight over the spot.
“It’s not that we want to keep the table to ourselves as a souvenir, it’s mainly out of safety concerns,” the report quoted a staffer as saying.
Zhuo Guizhen, a frequent visitor to the restaurant, said it was the first time she saw so many customers at the place.
