Lucknow, Jan 2 (IANS) Yamuna Expressway Authority officials have sought security for motorists and commuters on the expressway between New Delhi and Agra.
Officials told IANS that the authority’s additional CEO P.C Gupta has sought the security based on “fresh analysis”.
“The home department has received a request from the Yamuna Expressway Authority to provide it one inspector, two sub-inspectors and six constables. We are looking into the issue and a report has been sought from the inspector general of police (Establishment),” a home department official said.
The Yamuna Expressway, which opened for general public 2012, has become a preferred route for people zipping across between Delhi and Agra.
However, incidents of car crashes, vehicle pile-ups and some criminal incidents like heists and robberies at the expressway are often reported.
