New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) A court here Monday said that arguments on charges in a case against Bahujan Samaj Party MP Dhananjay Singh and his wife will commence Feb 22.
Additional Sessions Judge Lokesh Kumar Sharma fixed Feb 22 for beginning arguments on charges in the case against Singh and his wife, accused of causing the death of their maid following alleged torture by them.
Dhananjay Singh, a sitting MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur, was chargesheeted for various offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including allegedly destroying evidence and abetting the offence of murder and attempt to murder.
Police had Feb 1 chargesheeted Singh and his wife Jagriti Singh for various offences.
Dhananjay Singh and Jagriti Singh, a dental surgeon in a government hospital here, were arrested in November 2013 and are in judicial custody.
Jagriti Singh was charged under various sections of the IPC, including for murder, attempt to murder, wrongful confinement and destruction of evidence.
