New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) Three people were arrested in Delhi with 11 kg heroin valued at Rs.40 crore in the international market, police said Monday.
Sajjat, 40, Shafaat Hussain Shah, 45 — both residents of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, and Mohd. Abdullah, 23, resident of Tamil Nadu, were arrested Saturday near the main gate of Tis Hazari court with 11 kg heroin.
Additional Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said Sajjat has a border pass which is being used by him to enter Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
“By using this pass, Sajjat went across the Line of Control (LoC) and met his acquaintance Mohd. Iqbal, who belongs to Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir,” said Yadav.
Iqbal delivered him the contraband of heroin which he brought back to Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Iqbal had procured the contraband from Afghanistan. On the directions of Iqbal, Sajjat along with Shafaat carried this contraband of heroin from Uri to Delhi,” said the officer.
After reaching Delhi Feb 7, Sajjat stayed with Shafaat in his rented house in east Delhi.
“The next day when Sajjat and Shafaat were handing over this drug consignment to Abdullah near the main gate of the Tis Hazari Court, they were caught,” the officer added.
Abdullah said that on the instructions of one Kuwait-based man Saleem, he came to Delhi to collect this contraband but was caught by police at the time of delivery.
“This contraband was to be carried by him to Tamil Nadu from where he was supposed to wait for further instructions for subsequent delivery,” the officer said.
Yadav said this module is being run by international drug traffickers and is having a well organised network in Pakistan administered Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, South East Asian countries, Kuwait and the Middle East.
“The final destination of the contraband was Europe,” he said.
