Srinagar, Feb 10 (IANS) The doctor who alleged sexual assault by an ex-minister in Jammu and Kashmir Monday said she has lodged a police complaint against an MP, some newspaper editors and journalists she alleged had disclosed her identity.
“I have lodged a complaint with the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Shaheed Gunj on Feb 8 requesting him to take appropriate action in accordance with law against some editors, publishers, printers, authors and Member of Parliament Chowdary Lal Singh for defaming my character and disclosing my identity,” the doctor said in a statement issued here.
The doctor said some vested interests had been trying to defame her and politicize the matter by disclosing her identity which is against the guidelines of the Supreme Court.
She has lodged an FIR against ex-minister, Shabir Ahmad Khan accusing him of sexual assault.
Meanwhile, sources here said police has obtained the permission from assembly speaker to arrest the ex-minister, a legislator representing the Rajouri constituency.
Despite an arrest warrant issued by the chief judicial magistrate here, Khan has so far not been arrested.
There was ruckus in the state legislature Monday when the opposition parties alleged the government was trying to protect the ex-minister.
