Chennai, Aug 22 (Inditop.com) A 45-year-old man died of swine flu in a government hospital here, taking the toll in Tamil Nadu to three, an official said.

The victim, identified only as Sekar, died Friday at the Government General Hospital. Director of Medical Education S. Vinayakam Saturday said Sekar had Aug 12 undergone an operation for piles at another government hospital.

“Four days later, he developed breathlessness and was shifted to Government General Hospital and tested positive for swine flu,” Vinayakam said.

While Tamiflu tablets were administered to him, Sekar breathed his last Friday night. Sekar has contracted the flu locally as he had not been overseas.

With this, the total number of deaths in India from the H1N1 virus has risen to 49.
