Seoul, March 1 (IANS) South Korean President Park Geun-hye Saturday proposed to hold regular family reunions with North Korea and said the issue has become increasingly urgent, as many elder family members have died.
Park also urged North Korea to shut down its nuclear programme and cooperate with South Korea for unification, Xinhua reported citing Yonhap news agency.
The two Koreas ended a six-day reunion of families separated by the Korean War last Tuesday at North Korea’s Mount Kumgang resort where hundreds met their long-lost relatives for the first time in six decades.
