Kolkata, March 13 (IANS) A day after her rally in Delhi turned out to be a flop show, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday said her Trinamool Congress will play a significant role and become the third largest party after the Lok Sabha polls.

“Trinamool will play a significant role in national politics. Besides the 42 seats in Bengal, we will be contesting in Assam, Tripura, Jharkhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi etc.”
“Remember, Trinamool will be the third largest party in the country,” Banerjee told media persons at the city airport after her arrival from Delhi.
Banerjee, however, refused to talk about Wednesday’s rally.
“Whatever I had to say about yesterday, I have said and will not talk about it,” she said.
Banerjee walked away when asked if she had a talk with Anna Hazare who did not turn up at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi for the rally.
The much-hyped joint rally was being seen as an attempt to pitchfork Banerjee to the national stage. It turned out to be flop show, with Hazare staying away and only a few hundred people turning up at the sprawling Ramlila Maidan.
Banerjee looked a forlorn figure on the stage where seating arrangements were made only for her and Hazare, who only last month had extended his support to her for the Lok Sabha elections.
The flop show in Delhi prompted the opposition in the state to ridicule Banerjee’s “prime ministerial ambitions”.
