New Delhi, April 4 (IANS) Indian classical singer Kishori Amonkar and Pakistani performer Shafqat Ali Khan will be the star attractions of a two-day music festival, to begin here Saturday.
In the third edition of “Bhilwara Sur Sangam”, shehnai player Ali Ahmad Hussain Khan and sitar player Nishat Khan, both from India, will present a “jugalbandi” at the Kamani auditorium.
“We see this as our small contribution to the future generations who have little exposure to the heritage of India. By reinforcing the values of classical traditions through this musical programme, we wish to infuse in the younger generation an appreciation and respect for our heritage,” Ravi Jhunjhunwala, chairman, LNJ Bhilwara group, the festival organiser, said in a statement Friday.
“Indian music is well acknowledged across the globe but often neglected in India… We also wish to send a message that our glorious musical traditions need to be celebrated,” he added.
