New Delhi, Aug 27 (Inditop.com) Taking inspiration from sculptures on ancient temple walls, designer duo Parvesh-Jai is all set to depict the theories of Kama Sutra through their design skills and showcase them at the trade event Pret-a-Porter in Paris Sep 4-7.
Talking about the collection “Kama Sutra to super consciousness”, Jai said the collection has elements of Kamasutra depicted on temple walls.
“Textures on the paintings done on the garments make the images look more like those on the walls of temples. This not only looks beautiful but also give a universal message that love is everywhere,” Jai told Inditop.
Pret-a-Porter in Paris is an international trade event that is completely business- oriented and has designers from all around the world exhibiting their clothes and accessories.
This is the third time that the designer duo is participating in the event.
Describing the duo’s collection as a journey from chaos to simplicity, Parvesh said: “The collection talks about turmoil and pain that is inevitable in today’s world. But we try to seek peace of mind through spirituality. Through our clothes we have tried to depict this idea.”
“We have a range that has clothes in bright hues like yellow, purple and pink with black lines on them describing the pain and turmoil in our life. Then the range shifts to subtle colours like browns and beiges to depict that one is moving towards spirituality,” he added.
The collection comprises summer jackets, shift dresses, tunics and colourful shoes. The range is made of handloom silk and has hand-painted depictions of sexual poses inspired straight from the Khajuraho temples.
“When people visit those temples, many feel shy because of the sexual postures, but once you go inside the temple, it is serene and there are no such sexual images. This is fascinating,” explained Jai.
“This reveals that sexual behaviours are just temporary and what lasts is love. Today people are in search of true love and our collection talks about spreading the message of love,” he added.
