On Tuesday May 6, 2014, Google found a special way to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week – by offering something that helps educators quickly create and organize assignments. The new technology is called Google Classroom. Classroom is a free tool that will be placed in Google Apps around September of 2014.
Google wants to make it Easier for Teachers and Students
Google has introduced this app in an effort to make the lives of teachers easier and more organized. With the app, teachers will be able to create assignments quickly. They can also communicate with their classes.
Teachers Can Keep Up with Their Students
The app integrates Google Drive, Docs and Gmail to help teachers create and collecting assignments. By using Google Classroom, teachers will be able to see the students that have completed their work. With a personal touch, they can also offer feedback, make comments and ask questions directly to individual students. Google hopes that this will improve communication between teachers and students both inside and outside the classroom environment.
Google Classroom Allows Teachers and Students Can Stay More Organized
With the app, both teachers and students should be able to stay more organized. With the push of a button, the app will automatically make a Drive folder for the assignment. The students will be able to see when the assignment is due.
Privacy and No Ads
There is no reason to worry about privacy and ads with Google Classroom. Google has stated that they will not use the student data or content for marketing purposes nor do they plan on placing ads in the app.
The new app is expected to be available to any school by September of 2014. Currently, any educator who would like to try the service out can apply for a preview of it.
