British band the ARCTIC MONKEYS kept themselves apart from fellow rockers at last weekend’s (29-30Aug09) Reading Festival in the U.K. – they demanded a separate area to hang out in.

The Fluorescent Adolescent hitmakers reportedly requested a cordoned-off space backstage, manned by security guards.

It meant the Grammy-nominated band could avoid mixing with other acts on the bill, according to British tabloid the Daily Star.

A source tells the publication, “At festivals most bands take the opportunity to hang out with each other but the Monkeys demanded privacy. They had their own area set up away from the other acts on the bill which was guarded at all times by two security guards. Now they’re on their third No 1 album, they can make any demand they want and have it granted.

“Maximo Park, The Prodigy and all the other groups were more than happy to mingle. It was only the Monkeys who weren’t.”
