Agartala, Sep 1 (IANS) Massive peace rallies were organised in Left-ruled Tripura Monday on the 75th anniversary of the beginning of World War II, with people from all walks of life including politicians, lawmakers,and artists taking part.

Physically challenged men and women, foreign tourists and traders also took part in the biggest ever rally held so far in the northeastern state.
The main peace procession was held in Agartala where Chief Minister and Communist Party of India-Marxist politburo member Manik Sarkar, party’s central committee member Badal Choudhury, Bijan Dhar, Gautam Das and several other top Left leaders were also present.
World War-II began Sep 1, 1939, with the invasion of Poland by Germany and subsequent declarations of war on Germany by France and the United Kingdom.
