The family of ADAM ‘DJ AM’ GOLDSTEIN is urging fans to donate to his favourite charities rather than send flowers in the wake of his sudden passing.

The beatmaker was found dead on Friday (28Aug09) in his New York City apartment after a suspected drug overdose.

His heartbroken family is determined some good will come of his death – and is asking his fans to send money to causes close to Goldstein’s heart.

Goldstein’s relatives took to his personal MySpace page to appeal to fans to donate to the National MS (multiple sclerosis) Society or Friendly House, an organisation dedicated to helping women recover from alcohol and drug abuse.

The plea reads, “We appreciate the kind words and support for Adam over the past few days. Due to your inquiries (sic), in lieu of flowers, AM’s family would like to suggest making donations to the following charitable organisations: National MS Society, Southern California Chapter … or Friendly House.”

A representative for the female aid charity says Goldstein “was a supporter of Friendly House and would show up at our luncheons. I am kind of glad we were even mentioned at this awful time.”
