New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) The Delhi High Court has upheld the sentence of life imprisonment awarded to a man for killing his son because he suspected that the boy was not born to his wife through him.
A division bench of Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Mukta Gupta upheld the conviction and sentencing of Bhupender Singh.
Singh was also slapped with a fine of Rs. 5,000.
“The motive being the appellant suspecting that Arpit (son) was not born to his wife through his loins,” the court said.
According to police, Singh killed his son with a hammer blow to his head Oct 10, 2010.
Singh suspected the fidelity of his wife and compelled her to even seek a DNA test of their son Arpit, the prosecution said.
The court also considered his wife’s testimony that Singh was a worthless person living on rental income and that he used to quarrel with her daily after drinking.
The order delivered last week was released Saturday.
