Chandigarh, Nov 23 (IANS) Border Security Force (BSF) troopers recovered five kg of heroin along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab, a BSF spokesman said Sunday.

He said that the heroin, in five packets, was found near the border outpost (BoP) Barreke in Ferozepur sector.
The packets were recovered after BSF troopers, on observing suspicious movement near the international border, challenged the smugglers. The smugglers, however, escaped, taking advantage of darkness and foggy weather, the spokesman said.
The heroin is said to be worth Rs.25 crore in the international market.
With the latest seizure, the BSF has seized over 330.77 kg of heroin this year. The seizure of heroin in the entire last year (2013) was 322 kg in the Punjab sector.
