The woman who murdered actress SHARON TATE and her unborn child will die in jail after a California parole board denied her request for a “compassionate release”.
Susan Atkins, 61, is serving a life sentence for her part in the grisly Manson Family slaying in 1969 and, after 38 years behind bars, she is the longest detained female in the California prison system.
An amputee, who is dying of cancer, she asked officials to consider letting her walk free from Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla so she could die at home.
At a hearing on Wednesday (02Sep09), parole board officials voted unanimously against releasing Atkins.
Doctors insist Atkins only has months to live.
