New Delhi, April 8 (Inditio) Unperturbed by the financial crisis and a slump in sales, Japanese auto major Toyota Motor Wednesday announced that it will launch its high end sport utility vehicle (SUV) Fortuner in India by September this year.
Fortuner, which is currently available in Philippines and Malaysia, will be imported to India in completely knocked down (fully disassembled) condition and is expected to be sold at around Rs.20 lakh.
“Fortuner is an important addition to our product line-up in India and we are currently in the process of finalising details for the launch,” Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director (marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), said.
TKM is a joint venture between Toyota Motor and India’s Kirloskar group.
The car, the second SUV from Toyota’s stable after Land Cruiser, will be assembled at TKM’s plant in Bidadi near Banglore.
