Hyderabad, Sep 5 (Inditop.com) Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who died in a helicopter crash Wednesday, had a narrow escape last year when the helicopter carrying him made an emergency landing on a road.
The incident had taken place Aug 21, 2008 when he was on his way to attend a programme at Mydavolu village in Guntur district.
The chopper was to land on a helipad at K.B.R College ground in Narsaraopet town but the pilot while preparing to land found the helipad unfit for landing due to soggy conditions and alerted the chief minister’s security officials that the chopper would be making an emergency landing.
There were anxious moments as the security officials and district authorities made arrangements for the chopper to land on Narsaraopet bypass road.
The overcast conditions under which the chopper had taken off from Rajahmundry and the delay in his arrival had kept the officials at the village on tenterhooks. The chief minister later drove to the village to lay the foundation stone for a spices park.
YSR’s helicopter crashed Wednesday, killing him and four others.
