Mumbai, Dec 31 (IANS) Following the central government’s directive of splitting the portfolio of chairman and managing director (MD) of PSU banks, Animesh Chauhan has been appointed the CEO and MD of Oriental Bank of Commerce, the bank said Wednesday.

According to the directive, for the first time in India, PSU banks will have a non-executive chairman, giving operational responsibility to managing director and chief executive officer (CEO).
Animesh Chauhan is the executive director of Central Bank of India, another state-owned bank, and comes with extensive experience in the banking sector.
“Central government vide notification dated Dec 31, 2014 has appointed Animesh Chauhan, as managing director and chief executive officer of the bank from the date of assumption of charge of the post upto the age of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” the bank said in a notification to National Stock Exchange here.
