A bejewelled white glove once owned by MICHAEL JACKSON has been sold at an auction in Australia for $47,000 (£29,500).

The late star threw his signature piece to a fan on the red carpet ahead of the Sydney premiere of his 1996 music movie Ghosts.

The lucky recipient, Bill Hibble, has since died – and the artifact was passed to Melbourne auction house Bonhams and Goodman for sale.

Charlotte Stanes, a spokeswoman for the company, confirmed the glove was sold for $47,000 (£29,500) to a buyer for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
