Washington, Jan 25 (IANS) Two planes were escorted by fighter jets to a safe landing at an airport in Atlanta following a “credible” bomb scare, a media report said.
According to Xinhua, the two aircraft – a Delta Air Lines flight from Portland (Oregon) and a Southwest Airlines flight from Milwaukee (Wisconsin) were escorted to the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta Saturday, after it was learnt that there were bombs on board.
Both planes landed safely and were asked to sit on the taxiway, and passengers on both flights were searched by the bomb squad of the Atlanta Police before being allowed to leave the area, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials were quoted as saying.
Local authorities did not disclose the details of the bomb threats that were made on the Twitter.
