The Hague, April 2 (IANS) Polish international Arek Milik has signed a four-year contact until mid-2019 with AFC Ajax Amsterdam, with the deal going into effect on July 1.
The 21-year-old Milik arrived on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last year and Ajax have now lifted the option to buy the player from the German club. The striker scored 23 goals in 33 matches so far for Ajax, of which 11 goals in 20 league matches, reports Xinhua.
Milik started his career at Gornik Zabrze in Poland, before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2013. He was loaned out to FC Augsburg in the 2013/2014 season, scoring two goals in 18 Bundesliga matches.
Last Sunday Milik got injured during the Euro 2016 qualifying match of Poland against Republic of Ireland in Dublin (1-1). He will be sidelined with a knee injury for a few weeks.
“Of course I feel my knee injury a bit, but today is a fantastic day for me,” Milik told on the Ajax website on Wednesday.
“I see this contract as a reward for my good work during training and competitions and for my goals, for everything, really.”
