Chandigarh, April 2 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said compensation would be given to the farmers affected by unseasonal rains and hailstorms within 30 days of submission of crop damage survey report.
Speaking to the media in Hisar, Khattar said unlike the previous governments, his government would act fast and give away cheques for the compensation amount to the farmers within one month of submission of the Girdawari report.
“In view of the widespread damage caused to the crops, the state government has already converted crop loans into short-term loans payable over three years. Besides, the affected farmers will also be provided loan for the next crop at zero rate of interest,” he said.
Reports have suggested that damage to crops in Haryana could be over 30 percent due to the recent adverse weather.
