New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) Amid extremely hot weather conditions in and around the national capital, it drizzled for a while on Monday afternoon but this failed to provide any respite from the sweltering heat which has thrown life out of gear here for the last few days.

The Met office forecast isolated rains in Delhi and surrounding areas.
“Isolated rains are expected at few places of Delhi, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Uttar Pradesh,” said an official of the meteorological department.
However, the Met officials also forecast that heat waves would continue in the region.
“The heat waves would prevail at few places in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh,” said the Met official.
The day began on a sunny note but it started turning cloudy by afternoon. Delhi and adjoining districts of Ghaziabad, Noida and Gurgaon witnessed light rain for a very short time.
“The driving temperature at 2.30 pm was recorded 44.6 degrees Celsius,” the Met official added.
