Nagpur, May 25 (IANS) Maharashtra’s Vidarbha and Marathwada regions continued to reel under heatwave conditions with 40 degrees plus temperatures on Monday, a Met department official said.
Mercury soared to 47 degrees Celsius in Chandrapur, the official said. Nagpur and Wardha recorded 45 degrees Celsius while Nanded recorded 44 degrees Celsius.
Jalgaon, Nashik, Parbhani, Akola and Amravati were next with 43 degrees Celsius, and Yavatmal (42), Solapur (41), Osmanabad and Buldhana (40).
The salubrious hill station of Mahabaleshwar witnessed a high of 29 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature recorded in the state on Monday.
Mumbai sweltered at 36.2 (Colaba) and 34.8 (Santacruz) with people preferring to remain indoors at home or office during the peak afternoon hours.
