New Delhi, Sep 13 (Inditop.com) Want to make a male model squeal in pain? Just say the word “waxing”.

Many male models have been showing off lots of skin by wearing mini shorts, bath robes, boxers, sleeveless jackets and shirts that were most often left open baring their toned and hairless chests at the ongoing Van Heusen India Mens Week (VHIMW) here.

They couldn’t have carried this off without waxing or shaving. Most avoided waxing.

According to model Ronit Pratap Singh who is new to the fashion world: “Shaving is easier and a quicker process compared to waxing. All you have to do is take a razor and shave it off.

“Normally I don’t shave my legs, but I have to go for it during fashion shows.”

Kabir, another young model, said: “Hairy legs look really sick on the ramp; so we have no option but to get rid of the hair. But I definitely prefer shaving.”

Sumeet Nehra, another model, shivers at the very thought of getting himself waxed.

“Never ever will I opt for waxing over shaving. I have heard that waxing is a painful process and I don’t want to try it ever,” he said.

Though models like Sahil Shroff and Lalit Tehlan have been a part of the fashion worldfor long, even they have not yet got accustomed to getting their hair pulled out with wax, a process women go for almost on a monthly basis.

“I detest waxing from the core of my heart. Once I tried it after my friend pushed me to go for it. What they advised me was to drink two to three glasses of beer so that it would subdue the pain,” Tehlan said.

“I tried it but I still felt horrible. Neither beer nor whisky would work in this case. In fact after that experience, I have started respecting women more because they go through this regularly. I think it’s quite a torture.”

Shroff, who was among the best looking models at VHIMW, said: “Waxing is something that you try to get used to but really don’t.”

Among the male models Inditop spoke to, Shroff was the only one to say he prefers waxing, but only for his back and arms.

“I prefer waxing instead of shaving but I restrict it only to my back and arms because I can’t bear the pain on my chest. It was horrible when I got waxing done on my chest,” Shroff said.

“I try to avoid it as long as I can, but in the end it’s necessary because of my fashion assignments,” he added.
