Bhubaneswar, May 28 (IANS) The opposition Congress and the BJP on Thursday pulled up Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for failing to keep promises, including filling up 40,000 vacant posts in the government.

“The state government headed by Naveen Patnaik is a perpetual liar. It never acts as it says. The chief minister has been befooling people by making false promises and still holds the office,” said Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra.
Senior Congress leader Mishra said the Patnaik government has failed to meet its promises on employment generation in the last 15 years.
In June 2014, the state government promised to provide 40,000 government jobs within six months. But, it was still conducting review meetings to fill up the vacant posts, he said.
The BJP was also critical of the government for making tall promises. “Naveen Patnaik only conceives ideas, but fails to deliver. While sometimes the ideas received a premature burial, we have also seen abortions many times,” said senior BJP leader Suresh Pujari.
He alleged that the government spent Rs.135 crore to recruit only 752 people by organising job fairs in the state.
Their reaction came a day after Chief Minister Patnaik issued directions to expedite the filling up of over 40,000 posts.
