New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) A court here on Saturday granted exemption to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from personal appearance in a case related to protest outside former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s residence in December 2012.
Besides Kejriwal, other Aam Aadmi Paty (AAP) leaders have also been granted exemption from personal appearance.
Metropolitan Magistrate Dheeraj Mittal allowed Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, noted advocate Prashant Bhushan and other AAP leaders’ plea seeking exemption from personal appearance.
Kejriwal’s counsel Rishikesh Kumar and Neha Rastogi told court that he will not be able to appear in court due to his some political commitments.
The court has posted the matter for September 19 for further hearing.
Kejriwal, others party leaders and supporters were chargesheeted by Delhi Police for protesting and shouting slogans outside Dikshit’s residence on December, 2012 and violated the prohibitory orders.
