Chandigarh, June 3 (IANS) Authorities in Punjab on Wednesday ordered the testing of samples of Maggi noodles following recent reports of suspect food quality standards.
Punjab Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani said that samples were being taken from various places in the state and had been sent for laboratory testing.
A total of 60 samples were taken on Wednesday itself, he said.
The Haryana government had also on Tuesday ordered testing of samples of Maggi noodles.
Nestle India, the manufacturing company for Maggi range of products, has its oldest factory in India in Punjab’s Moga district. The plant was set up in 1961. The company also has a manufacturing facility near Panipat in Haryana.
