Seoul, June 5 (IANS) A team from the World Health Organisation (WHO) will visit South Korea next week to probe into the spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in the country, authorities said on Friday.

The health and welfare ministry will form a joint mission of investigation with the WHO as the type of MERS spread in South Korea has showed differences from the one in Saudi Arabia, Xinhua news agency reported.
Under the international health regulation, the WHO is capable of conducting an on-site investigation in a country riddled with infectious diseases that requires international cooperation.
The joint mission will have experts from various areas such as an epidemiological survey, virus and infection management.
As of Friday, MERS infections in South Korea surged to 41 after the first patient tested positive on May 20.
Four deaths have been reported so far.
