Vancouver, April 10 (Inditop) Britney Spears left a sold-out crowd of 18,000 in the lurch when she suddenly walked off the stage at the famous GM Place here because of “ventilation problems”.

The pop diva, who was here as part of her comeback Circus tour Wednesday night, was just 15 minutes into her performance when she abruptly left the stage over “smoke” caused by cigarettes and marijuana.

After she left the stage, the organisers announced that it has “become uncomfortable and unsafe for the performers, including Ms. Spears” to continue because of the smoke caused by cigarettes and marijuana.

But the show will “resume as soon as the air around the stage is clear”, they assured the crowd at the GM Place. As they waited, the crowd kept chanting her name and urging the pop diva to restart the performance.

Finally, Britney was back on the stage again to perform for another hour, signing off with an appeal to the audience not to smoke weed. However, the organisers Thursday clarified that there was no safety issue at the venue, dismissing the disruption as “ventilation problem” caused by smoking.

“At no time was there or has there been any concern for the quality of the air or the safety of the guests in the building,” an official of the venue GM Place was quoted as saying in the local media.
