Aligarh, June 21 (IANS) The vice chancellor of the AMU on Sunday said he had been performing yoga for over 40 years and found it soothing and mentally healing.
Speaking at a symposium at the Aligarh Muslim University, retired Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah said yoga brought discipline in one’s life and was useful for patients with high blood pressure and diabetes.
Pro-Vice Chancellor S. Ahmad Ali highlighted the significance of yoga, adding he had been following it for decades.
But Rajinder Singh, chairman of the department of physical education, warned learners not to do yoga during fever and journey. He also advised menstruating women not to perform yoga.
He urged yoga lovers to learn it from a trained person.
