Margao (Goa), June 26 (IANS) A five-day goalkeeping course organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has begun at the Chowgule Football Ground here.
The course aims to focus on the modern goalkeeping methods, alongwith honing the skills of the 25 members at the camp. It began on Thursday.
“Technicalities of back-passing, set piece scenarios, initiating a counter attack and other minute details which often prove to be the difference between a save and a goal will be taught in detail to the participants,” the AIFF said in a release on Friday.
The course will be conducted under the instruction of Swiss goal-keeping coach Stephan Stooss.
Expressing his desire to tutor the eager participants, Stooss said: “I am excited to be here in India and I look forward to the FIFA course. Goalkeeping needs a lot of passion and together we will develop and that, through various exercises.”
“The course not only serves as a platform to evolve into a better goalkeeper, but also enables the participants to learn from the experiences of each other, in various stages of goalkeeping life,” he added.
