London, Sep 19 (Inditop.com) The release of Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston’s new movie “Love Happens” may be cancelled over plagiarism charges.
The romantic comedy could be pulled from release because screenwriters Greg Crowder and Tony Freitas have filed a lawsuit against Universal Pictures – the producers of the film, reported femalefirst.co.uk.
The pair claim the movie is based on their script, which they showed to Scott Bernstein in 2006, when he worked at Universal Pictures as vice president of production.
In the lawsuit, Crowder claims he met Bernstein several times over the script but a deal wasn’t finalised despite the company’s interest.
Crowder says he first became aware of the similarities in the plotline when another film company – to which he submitted the same script earlier this year – told him they were concerned he had stolen the idea from Jennifer’s latest movie.
Crowder and Freitas have asked for the release of the movie to be stopped from its planned opening Saturday or $100 million in profits.
“Love Happens” depicts the story of a widower’s struggle to cope with new love after the loss of his spouse.
