New Delhi, Sep 19 (Inditop.com) The Delhi government Saturday ordered a probe into the alleged misuse of the swine flue medicine Tamiflu by a leading private school.
“There was a report on misuse of Tamiflu by a school and our health minister (Kiran Walia) has ordered a probe into the matter. We hope to clear everything soon,” Anjan Prakash, a nodal officer to curb swine flu in Delhi, told Inditop.
Security guards of the Raghuvir Singh Junior Modern School distributed Tamiflu tablets to children without proper medical supervision after a few of their students tested positive for influenza A (H1N1), the officer said.
Prakash said the school had not received Tamiflu stocks from her. “The school principal has received it from the chief district medical officer.”
She said a team comprising her and a few other health officials will investigate the matter next week. “It’s weekend and Monday is a holiday (for Eid). The team will work on it Tuesday onwards,” she added.
Of the nearly 1,700 swine flu cases reported in the capital, around 40 percent are school students. At least eight people have died of the contagious virus in the capital so far.
