Moscow, Sep 20 (RIA Novosti) Russia Saturday criticised Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his latest Holocaust denial, saying such statements were totally unacceptable and those don’t contribute to the establishment of an effective international dialogue with the Islamic nation.
In a televised address to the nation Friday, the Iranian leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, questioned the events of the Holocaust and called for investigations into it.
“Similar statements, no matter where they come from, violate the truth and are completely inadmissible,” Andrei Nesterenko, a spokesman for the foreign ministry, told reporters.
He said attempts to deny the Holocaust harm the memory of WWII victims and all those who fought against the Nazi.
“This does not contribute to the settlement of the task to create a favourable international atmosphere for establishing and maintaining effective dialogue on all issues concerning Iran either,” the Russian diplomat said.
