On Saturday, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), or JD(U), elected Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha as the working president of the party. This decision was taken during the party’s national executive meeting held in Delhi. The meeting was also convened to review the current political scenario and prepare for the upcoming Bihar assembly polls scheduled for 2025. Nitish Kumar, a key partner in the NDA-ruled Centre, called for a special financial package from the central government for Bihar.
