Mumbai, Sep 22 (Inditop.com) The benchmark index of the Indian stock markets Tuesday started trade slightly higher than its previous closing figure, and was ruling 0.23 percent above Friday’s close, about five minutes into trade.

This is a truncated week for the markets, having been closed Monday for Eid-ul-Fitr.

The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange opened at 16,805.22 points, above its closing figure of 16,741.3 points Friday. Within the first five minutes, it was ruling at 16,779.73 points, 38.43 points or 0.23 percent above its previous close.

Around the same time, the broader S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was at 4,986.3 points, 0.21 percent above its previous close at 4,976.05 points.
