The West Bengal government, led by Mamata Banerjee, has approached the Supreme Court against Governor CV Ananda Bose for stalling eight assembly-passed bills, seven of which pertain to vice-chancellor appointments. The state argues that the governor’s inaction, labeled as a “pocket veto,” is unconstitutional. This move follows ongoing tensions between Banerjee and Bose, including FIRs against Raj Bhawan staff and public disagreements. Similar legal actions have been taken by Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments against their governors. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the plea soon.
