The Murshidabad Medical College deputy superintendent, Akhtar Ali, was summoned by the state health department for a probe into corruption allegations against Sandip Ghosh, ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College. Ali previously reported financial irregularities and illegal activities involving Ghosh. Kolkata police registered an FIR against Ghosh based on these complaints.
