Fourteen officials from Tamil Nadu’s Vellore prison, including DIG R. Rajalakshmi, have been charged with forcing prisoners into household chores and subjecting them to torture. Following a judicial magistrate’s report, the Madras High Court ordered an inquiry and disciplinary measures against the implicated officials. The convict was also held in solitary confinement.
