Pakistan’s deputy prime minister Ishaq Dar has attributed the recent surge in terrorism to a 2021 visit by a three-star general to Kabul. He criticized former PM Imran Khan for allowing the visit and releasing militants, which he claims have led to increased attacks across Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan. The Taliban’s rise to power was initially seen by some in Pakistan as a potential boon, however, the reality has proven to be quite different.
